Laurent Goumarre never went to art school, but studied literature before becoming a critical journalist at Artpress, Offshore. At the same time, he was putting together a body of work, which he submitted to the Salon de Montrouge for validation in 1998. The same year, Laurent had his first exhibition at Galerie Alain Gutharc, a gallery that regularly exhibits his work (photography, ceramics and drawings), and which he later joined in 2018 with his solo show, “Saint Laurent”.

Laurent Goumarre is also a journalist for France inter, and a critic for Libération. His career has been punctuated by positions as artistic director of dance festivals (Montpellier danse, then the Lyon biennial) and theater festivals (the TJJCC at the theatre de Genevilliers). Not to mention hosting a daily cultural program on France 5 Entrée libre (2011-2015).
