Bio
Born in Geneva, living and working in the French Basque Country, Lara Micheli has a degree in Art History.
After an internship at the photography department of the French auction house Artcurial, she pursued her photography practice by following the online program at the International Center of Photography in New York to devote herself fully to her art practice.
She used a Polaroid SX-70 for the first time in 2014 during a series of fashion images for Rag & Bone and never changed camera again. This « tool » became the essential starting point for all her personal projects.
Her work is mainly autobiographical, drawing from her personal experiences. Through her art, she seeks to gain a deeper understanding of herself and others, convinced that the essence lies in the attempt to mutually understand one another.
In 2021, she was awarded one of the « Fresh Eyes » European talents of the year by GUP magazine.
She has been exhibiting in galleries in France and Switzerland since 2022.
Her photographs have been the object of several publications (Elle, Fisheye, Artsper, 1NSTANT, Transfuge, Le Point, Maison Assouline...).
