Lara began studying Art History in Paris, after obtaining a Bachelor's degree and an internship in Artcurial's Photography department, she continued her training by taking online courses at the International Center of Photography in New York (2017-2021). The Polaroid came as a revelation in 2014 during a series of fashion images for Rag & Bone. She never changes cameras again, and keeps this indispensable "tool" for developing her personal photographic projects.

Lara Micheli experiments with different techniques such as collage and ink transfer on linen. For her, her collages are a  way of deconstructing certain moments, then reconstructing them by attaching them to others.

In each image, a piece of herself appears, a fragment of her body that she displays and hides in the same movement. It's a kind of auto-fiction in which she reveals herself while constantly evading the gaze. She shows herself in all her vulnerability, with sensuality and gentleness. A gentleness present in all her work, tinged here with an erotic power, in a gesture where the artist feels liberated. 

Her work is mainly autobiographical, drawing from her personal experiences. Through her art, she seeks to gain a deeper understanding of herself and others, convinced that the essence lies in the attempt to mutually understand one another. To address her questions, she uses photography as her language, aiming to capture the experience of life in a simple yet revealing way, as if describing it to a visitor from another galaxy. Her goal is to distill life to its essence, stripping away the superfluous.​​
